The 33rd annual Hutch Holiday Gala will be held Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 5 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Seattle Hotel.
Hosted by the Grace Heffernan Arnold Guild and the Hutch Holiday Gala Board of Directors, the annual Hutch Holiday Gala has raised more than $58 million over the past 32 years to support vital research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Last year’s Gala raised $4.3 million in private contributions to benefit the following research initiatives and patient and family program at the Hutchinson Center: early detection and intervention, tumor research, fundamental research, international research, childhood cancers, and the Hutch School.
The Hutch Holiday Gala is the single largest fund-raiser benefiting the Hutchinson Center, and is one of the largest of its kind in the country. The Gala is a black-tie event featuring extravagant live and silent auctions, an elegant dinner, and late-night dancing with more than 850 business and community leaders in attendance.
To eliminate cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1,437,180 new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2008, which does not include an estimated one million basal and squamous cell skin cancers. This year 565,650 Americans will lose their battle with cancer. That’s more than 1,500 people a day. In the United States, one of every four deaths is from cancer. The Hutchinson Center is committed to changing these devastating odds.
